Process of Progress
“However, they often only stay focused on the end result and when they don’t meet it, they wonder why. It’s because progress is a process — and to achieve the end result, the process matters. Forgetting the process is often why folks never achieve the progress, or results, they desire.”
— Dr. Molly Casey
This idea goes beyond the scope of design for me, and I probably sound like a broken record by this point, just like I’ve said I need to see something in order to understand something, I need to see a clear path to an end goal in order to understand why that is the goal and in order to support that goal. In our theory class, we talked so much about things like dismantling capitalism, but we were never given any idea of how we would do that or what an alternative would look like. I don’t see the point of pushing for ideals if you can’t explain how we would arrive at that ideal. This goes for my views on design, my political views, and my views on life in general. Abstraction of ideals and calling for things that probably aren’t possible just don’t make sense to me.
